Event Details
Spend a Saturday evening with a full symphony orchestra in one of Cork’s grandest concert spaces, as the Cork Fleischmann Symphony Orchestra brings a programme of much-loved classics to Cork City Hall.
The centrepiece is Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 23 in A Major, with acclaimed Irish pianist Michael McHale as soloist. The orchestra also performs Tchaikovsky’s sweeping Symphony No. 5 and Vaughan Williams’ gentle Romanza. Keith Pascoe conducts, Áine Ní Shé leads the orchestra, and Evelyn Grant presents the evening.
The concert suits anyone who enjoys orchestral music, from seasoned concert-goers to first-timers curious to hear a live symphony in full flight. There’s a reduced downstairs price for students, making it a lovely night out for music students and young listeners, and OAPs and COS members get money off too.
It all takes place in the Concert Hall at Cork City Hall on Anglesea Street, right in the heart of the city centre.
The orchestra was founded in honour of Professor Aloys Fleischmann, who did so much to grow orchestral music in Cork, and it continues that tradition by bringing top soloists and great repertoire to local audiences. Tickets are on sale through Eventbrite and at the door on the night, but booking ahead is the easiest way to get the seats you want.
