Equanimity Maths provides live online Maths classes for students from 1st Year through to 6th Year, covering Junior Cycle and Leaving Certificate Higher Level, all mapped to the Irish curriculum.

Why small groups?

Every class is capped at five students. In a class of thirty, the student who loses the thread stays lost — they don’t put their hand up, they disengage quietly, and by Christmas they’ve decided Maths isn’t for them. In a group of five that can’t happen. Every question gets answered and every gap gets found.

Our approach

Equanimity means mental calmness and composure, especially in difficult situations. Maths is a difficult situation for a great many students — and most of them aren’t struggling with the mathematics. They’re struggling with the anxiety built up around it.

We teach understanding before technique. A student who understands why a method works can adapt when an exam paper throws something unfamiliar at them. A student who memorised the steps cannot. That difference is where grades are decided in June.

About the teacher

Equanimity Maths is run by Tadgh Hanrahan, a qualified Maths and PE teacher with a B.Ed from Dublin City University. Over five years tutoring across every year group and ability level, plus a year teaching full-time in an Irish secondary school.
