The Barn Ensemble – Community Music Group in County Wicklow

Who we are The Barn Ensemble is a welcoming community music group based in Newcastle, Co. Wicklow. We began in 2020 as a small pilot project and have since grown into a lively, supportive ensemble of older adults who meet weekly to play, learn, and enjoy music together.

What we do We explore a wide mix of music — from early and baroque pieces to Irish traditional tunes and everything in between. Our rehearsals are relaxed, encouraging, and full of laughter. We perform at local events, schools, libraries, and community gatherings, sharing the joy of music with people of all ages.

Who can join We welcome players of any instrument and any level — whether you’re returning to music after years away, picking up something new, or already playing regularly, whether you can read music or not. If you enjoy learning in a friendly group and want to be part of a supportive musical community, you’ll fit right in.

When we meet We rehearse every Wednesday morning in Newcastle, Co. Wicklow.
